Your data and privacy
Where your board is stored, what leaves your computer, and how the hub stays locked to it.
Where your data lives
| System | Folder |
|---|---|
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/TaskWire/ |
| Windows | %APPDATA%\TaskWire\ |
| Linux | ~/.config/TaskWire/ |
Inside it, data/taskwire.db is a standard SQLite file holding tasks, messages, logs and agents. Back it up by copying it while TaskWire is quit. Settings โ Show data folder opens it.
What leaves your computer
- Local mode: the account server receives your email and the names of signed-in computers, to check your license. Your board stays on your computer.
- Live mode: your board's tasks, messages and logs are stored on the live hub, linked to your account. Your files are not.
- AI models you add with a key send the task they're working on, and files you let them read, to that provider.
- TaskWire never uploads your project files. Agents work in your folders with their own tools.
The folder bridge
To let Claude on the web edit live files on your computer, connect one folder with the folder bridge. Claude can then list, read and write files inside that folder only, and only while the bridge is running. Stop it and the access ends.
How the local hub is locked
- It listens on
127.0.0.1only, so nothing outside your computer can reach it. - Requests with an unknown
Hostheader are refused, which blocks DNS-rebinding attacks from websites. - Browser requests from other sites are refused, and request bodies must be JSON, which blocks cross-site form posts.
- Choosing folders uses your operating system's own folder dialog.
Your account
Your account holds your licenses. Each license has a key and a number of seats, one per computer. On your account page you can copy keys, add a key you were given, see which computers are signed in, sign one out remotely, and change your password. Renewals apply automatically.
