TaskWire Docs

GitHub, Slack and Linear

Turn a labelled GitHub issue, a Slack message or a Linear issue into a task for your agents, and TaskWire reports back in the same place when the work is done.

Work often starts somewhere else: a bug report on GitHub, a request in Slack, a ticket in Linear. TaskWire can turn those into tasks on the board without anyone copying them over, and answer in the same place when an agent finishes.

Integrations need a Live board, because GitHub, Slack and Linear have to reach a public address. Open the workspace's settings and find Create tasks from. Each workspace turns each source on by itself.

Every source sends to a webhook address that only that workspace knows, and TaskWire checks each request's signature before it reads anything.

GitHub issues

An issue with the label you choose (taskwire unless you change it) becomes a task, once, whether it was opened with the label or given it later. When the task reaches Review, TaskWire comments on the issue, with a link to the pull request if the agent opened one.

  1. Turn on GitHub and save to get the webhook address and its secret.
  2. In the repository on GitHub, go to Settings → Webhooks → Add webhook.
  3. Paste the address and the secret, choose application/json, pick Let me select individual events, and tick Issues.

Slack

Type /taskwire add Fix the login page, or mention the app in a channel, and it becomes a task. TaskWire replies "Created #N" in a thread and replies again there when the task is done.

  1. Create a Slack app at api.slack.com/apps.
  2. Under Slash Commands, add /taskwire with the webhook address as the Request URL.
  3. Under Event Subscriptions, use the same address and subscribe to app_mention.
  4. Paste the app's Signing Secret into TaskWire, and its Bot User OAuth Token (scope chat:write) so it can reply in threads.

Linear

An issue that moves into the state you choose (Todo unless you change it) becomes a task, once. With a Linear API key, TaskWire comments when the task is ready for review, and moves the issue to your done state when the task is completed.

  1. In Linear, go to Settings → API → Webhooks → New webhook, paste the webhook address and tick Issues.
  2. Paste the signing secret Linear shows into TaskWire, and set the start state and the done state (Done unless you change it).
  3. Add a personal API key (Settings → API) if you want TaskWire to comment and move issues.

Turning one off

Turn off stops new tasks from that source straight away. Tasks it already made stay on the board.
